INSTALLATION OF OUR ALTERNATIVE ENERGY TYPES OF ALTERNATIVE ENERGY FOR YOUR HOUSE SELLING YOUR ENERGY AND CLAIMING ROCs

Until now wind turbines have been the preserve of the bigger power generators and farmers in remote areas. However, they are now being designed to be attached to domestic houses and referred to as On Grid which means that excess electricity can be sold to your electricity company. A small turbine can generate about 660-800 kwh per year. This would equate to about 1/4 to 1/3 of an average householders electricity use per year. Currently however they require full planning permission. There are now moves a
foot under the 'The
Management of Energy in Buildings Bill' currently passing through
Parliament which is pushing for the installation of micro wind turbines as
'permitted development' in much the same way as solar PV is now. This basically
means that planning permission is not required and the process of installing a
turbine is much quicker easier and less hassle. Examples of Windsave's 1000 system.

Example of Eclectic's D400 'StealthGen' These turbines are the quietest on the market at the moment. Alison Anderson at Stealthgen states that the turbines are inaudible at ground level and has forwarded some sound emissions data from a trial at Nottingham University. Access it here. She also says that their grid connected system is nearing finalisation. It will sell at around the £2,000 mark for the complete package.

Off Grid Domestic Systems These may be larger wind turbine systems that are in many cases connected to batteries to store the power produced. Some companies specialise in producing wind turbines for yachts, caravans, and for other locations where independency from the grid is important. Their systems therefore bring the benefits of electricity to a wide range of remote applications Marlec Engineering Co have a range to products in this field
If you want to read more about Generating Electricity from the wind there are some excellent Alternative Energy resources on the Nottingham Energy Partnership website. The pages have been written by Jerome Baddley, who also works for Iskrawind one of the country's foremost wind turbine manufactures. Click on the logo and go to the Energy From the Wind Link
Medium Scale Systems
Gazelle manufacture and install medium sized Wind Turbines for larger organisations such as Schools, Eco Centres, Company Premises and Public Buildings. They have forwarded the following information in pdf form. Whilst we realise that the majority of the visitors to this site require information about domestic wind turbines, we hope you find the information Gazelle have posted interesting reading. Wouldn't it be wonderful to see more of these graceful machines powering the places we work and visit.
